KVIK Kitchens Case Study
Whilst in Denmark, we explored many exhibitions that were inspirational and more higher end, but we also visited many brands that are more feasible - just like Australia, the prices of materials and general construction costs have also gone up significantly in Denmark.
We spent hours on the ground so to speak, and met many great brands providing some great solutions to balancing the art of solution, aesthetics and budget. We have a folder full of such ideas, that we are excited to apply in our current and future projects. These solutions will ensure all our designs achieve a beautiful result, whilst respecting your budget at the same time.
This is one our weapons as designers, having this wealth of insider knowledge. Engaging our expertise means you will have our vast information at your fingertips - our past clients have highlighted this as one of the most important outcomes from working with us.
We visited KVIK Kitchens (a middle range kitchen company in DK) for the launch of their new kitchen 'Align'. There were several takeaways we observed - some were new approaches/ideas, whilst others solidified our current approach to design, that we are already on the right track!
Below you can see the new 'Align' kitchen, that ticks a lot of boxes for our way of designing:
warm and welcoming palette
Balance of solution and soul
Less is more (few materials & decided on only having lines on island, not back wall as well)
Lineal lines - simplistic yet intricate
Sustainable - no more MDF
Timeless - a subtle curve on the island adds softness to the lineal design.
Feels Good
They recongnised that natural timber is a key material needed for warm, welcoming and tactile design, yet it is also on the higher end of the budget.
Their solution?
To introduce a small amount of timber to a daily touch point, the handles that commonly. get used 100's of times a day. It's tactile and sensory, feels beautiful and is a daily connection to nature and outside.
A clever design solution that provides daily happiness and connection for the client, but at a more budget friendly price. It is a subtle yet impressive design outcome that meets the needs of a larger market and is proving to be a huge success already.
