Embracing Change

Here at Hygge Design, we are known for our warm, welcoming interiors, filled with hygge!

We create spaces that are enduring and functional and tick all the necessary boxes for good design. But our unique approach is due to our primary focus on emotions & people- we create a feeling, that in a sense, speaks louder than the materials and furnishings of the space. We create places in which people can connect on a deeper level.

In essence, we design for the little moments, that in return, deliver more happiness and well-being to the inhabitants of the home. This is hard to explain, but so easy to feel when you experience one of our spaces (Hygge).

We design for the little moments, the simple pleasures in life.

Getting to this end feeling and design outcomes is an emotional and often, enlightning journey that we love being part of- it is a chance to really reflect on how you want to live; your habits; passions; hobbies and aspirations - working with us to transform your home really can be life-changing.

Time and time again, the biggest transformation we see that our clients often don't expect, is the personal changes to their happiness and well-being. You see, good design makes your day easier to get through: to wake up and begin your day in a home filled with calm, relaxing spaces will without a doubt, make you feel better about yourself and your general outlook on life.

A better home can lead to a better life - with order comes a state of calm and ease.

As we get to know our clients more, the trust and relationships further develop and as a result, we are able to design a concept that reflects your unique story in way you hadn't considered.

Curious by nature, we listen and observe your surroundings; we notice that you have stunning artworks from New Zealand or Japanese ceramics from your favourite holiday; all subtle queues we explore further in the concept design. We also take a sneaky look at your wardrobe palette, as this is a great way to inform us of your style and favourite colours.

From this, we dare to dream and provide solutions that push you a little out of your comfort zone, ideas and a vision that you would never have seen. Quite often, this involves us suggesting more colour. Colour is one of the most powerful ways to transform a home. We find that most of our clients really want to add some more colour into their home, but they are overwhelmed by all the options and decisions as to how to balance the colour palette and if they were doing this themselves, they would revert back to a safer neutral palette, afraid to make the wrong decision.

We get it, there is a lot to consider and you want to get it right - after all, this is a big investment of your time and money, quite often in your forever home. You want to do it once and do it right... even more reason to find an ally on your team who will provide clarity through a detailed design process.

I remember one client, she was dressed in a stunning outfit, layered in earthy colours and tan boots. We got to know each other really well and so when it came to the concept presentation, we pushed the colour palette to more of the unexpected, explaining the narrative behind the concept and well, you could almost see a light bulb switch on, like she could see that we knew what she wanted, but she hadn't been able to articulate it. Safe to say, she loved it and jumped on board with our designs and by the end of our journey together, she was asking us for more colour, it was so fab to see and be part of her journey of growth and confidence.

You see, we are all on the journey of life and what we like now will be drastically different from our 20's. With each year, with more knowledge, travel and life experiences, layers are added to our story board- I'm leaning into it with an open mind and I'm so curious to see what the future holds.
